“My opinion” on “My Choice” by #VOGUEEMPOWER

A collaboration between director Homi Adajania and Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone, and produced by JSW and Sangita Jindal, ‘My Choice’ is one more short film made dedicated to #VogueEmpower, Vogue India’s social awareness initiative. Based on a piece written by Kersi Khambatta, the video has been shot by Tassaduq Hussain. (SOURCE: Description box of The YouTube Video)

This video is supposed to be a short film for women empowerment. Honestly in the beginning I liked it and then it changed at 0:53. They say it’s for empowerment of women in India. I don’t see how having sex outside the marriage does that. Having a choice about everything is a free will. And I’m all about free will.( For both Men and Women) But when you are given choice, you can’t always be selfish. In name of feminism and empowerment you can’t run around doing what so ever you wish and than cry and complaint that your partner/boyfriend/fiance/husband cheats on you when you’re doing the same thing, you can’t have your way in everything in the name of feminism. That’s not empowerment, that’s not real feminism.

When you make a choice, more like whatever actions you take there always will be a reaction to that, you can call it consequences as well. You must be familiar to the Newton’s third law of motion, the same concept.

III. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Now because of this one thing the whole idea behind the film, every single effort and all the good intention is all gone in waste.(That is what I feel) I’m just very much disappointed. Feminism is not having your own way in everything ‘coz you’re woman and you’ve suffered in silence for centuries.( I already said it I know but I’m upset here..)

I wish for the world where we don’t need any concept of feminism. A world where is everything actually is about equality.

This post is me rambling around over a video. Sorry about that. I just have high expectation from the Vogue India for actually working for women empowerment in ways where it would actually make changes. I want to see the ladies of my country treated equally. I wanna see that happen before I get married and hopefully have my own daughter. I’m an optimistic dreamer who dreams of better world.

Again I’m sorry for rambling about stuff. If you’re still reading thank you so much. You’re a sweetheart.

Loads of love to you all. Take good care of yourselves.

TUDles..!! ❤ ❤ ❤

P.S. Don’t get me wrong here, I like the concept of the video. I just wish the approach would be less selfish. Of course it’s my opinion, it can differ from yours. Don’t take it personally

  1. Hmm… I’m not from India, so I don’t know what the norm is. I agree with some of the views, and I am all for women having the freedom to make their own choices. But some of the views, in my opinion, is the reason the world is so messed up…
